End Food Waste Australia’s Post

We’re proud to see Australia featured in the first Food Pact Network Report! A huge thank you to our industry partners whose leadership and collaboration have been key in maximising food across the national supply chain. In just three years, our signatories have reduced food waste by 13% (16,000 tonnes), achieved $57 million in cost savings, avoided $2 million in landfill levies, and identified new uses for 982,000 tonnes of food. Contact us to learn how we can support your organisation to reduce food waste, boost your bottom line, and contribute to this global movement. Read the full report: https://lnkd.in/gBJJvmuZ

Reducing food loss and waste is the world’s biggest environmental and social opportunity that isn’t being talked about. Food loss and waste is embedded in how we grow, sell, and consume food, driven by economic incentives that favour excess production, regulations that hinder redistribution, infrastructure that neglects sustainability, and cultural norms equating abundance with prosperity. Addressing it requires coordinated, systemic change around the world. Our first Food Pact Network Impact Report showcases our collective progress to date, as well as a spotlight on the Network’s 10 global members: Australia, Brazil, Indonesia, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, South Africa, the United Kingdom and two initiatives in the United States of America. Together we represent 14% of the global population, 38% of global GDP and around 20% of global food waste.
