You don’t have to understand Flemish to be amazed😱 Belgium inaugurated its longest tunnel built in history, connecting both sides of its port area across (under) the River Scheldt, for the flow of steam to move and generate sustainable energies. It’s in place to reduce the port operations’ CO2 levels by 50%. It is one of the largest industrial steam networks in Europe and began in 2019 💨They bored this tunnel without even digging slots - a technique called “micro-tunneling” was more effective.
Belgium’s longest microtunnel is now a reality! A brand-new tunnel beneath the River Scheldt now connects the left and right banks of the Antwerp port area. Through this technical feat, the ECLUSE network will soon supply sustainable steam from the waste-to-energy plants of Indaver and SLECO in Doel to Evonik on the right bank. This expansion marks an important step towards a low-carbon energy supply for our port. The steam will enable an additional annual reduction of 100,000 to 150,000 tonnes of CO₂ – equivalent to the energy consumption of more than 38,000 households. The 1,288-metre-long tunnel, the longest ever built in Belgium, was officially inaugurated today by Flemish Minister of Energy and Climate Melissa Depraetere, together with our partners from ECLUSE. A fine example of public-private collaboration between Indaver, SLECO, FINEG, Maatschappij Linkerscheldeoever (MLSO), Evonik and Port of Antwerp-Bruges, with the support of the Flemish Government. Together, we are building a sustainable, future-oriented port. 🔗 Read more: https://lnkd.in/ecakngtx. #ECLUSE #Energietransitie #SustainablePort #Samenwerking #PortOfAntwerpBruges #Innovatie

We proudly announce the launch of Aquatech in Southeast Asia. From 25 to 27 November 2026, the new international trade show for water technology - Aquatech Asia - will take place in Bangkok for the first time. With this expansion, Aquatech responds to the growing demand for sustainable water solutions in a region facing rapid urbanization, climate change, and increasing water challenges. Global water experts, technology leaders, and policymakers are brought together by this event to share knowledge about this subject. This milestone is made possible through our partnership with VNU Asia Pacific and the support of founding partners such as NX Filtration, Nijhuis Saur Industries, Ramboll, Water Alliance, and the Dutch government. With Aquatech Asia, we add a fourth international location to our Aquatech portfolio, alongside Amsterdam, Mexico, and China. #RAIAmsterdam #HouseOfEvents #HomeOfYourIndustry #Aquatech #EventIndustry #FutureProofEvents

🎙️ 𝐖𝐞’𝐯𝐞 𝐰𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐝 𝐮𝐩 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰𝐬 𝐢𝐧 5 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬! Learn more about the CRRA project 👉 https://lnkd.in/e2GFNftG As part of Carbon Gap’s Country Readiness for Carbon Removal Assessment (CRRA), we spoke with 80+ stakeholders across Finland, Germany, Italy, Poland, and Spain - from public officials and climate scientists to cleantech innovators, NGOs, and industry leaders. 💡 What did we learn? A rich, honest, and sometimes provocative picture of where each country stands on carbon dioxide removal (CDR). Key takeaways: • Nature-based methods are widely accepted across the board. • Tech solutions like DACCS and BECCS need investment, regulation, and public trust. • A multi-method, regionally tailored strategy is essential to scale CDR. Stakeholders from Finland and Poland expressed support for methods using land and biomass like biochar, BECCS, and peatland restoration. Germany and Italy stakeholders recognize the value of novel CDR solutions but flag governance and permitting hurdles. Spain sees nature-based CDR as most viable in the short-term, whilst technological methods need clearer incentives and coordination. This milestone wraps up our social geography research. The first country report, on Finland, is coming later this month. Huge thanks to all the stakeholders interviewed who shared their insights. Your voices are shaping the future of carbon removal in Europe. Learn more about the CRRA project 👉 https://lnkd.in/e2GFNftG
