Delphi-US, LLC - Peacemakers in the Talent War’s Post

Resumes tell a story. But not the whole story. At Delphi-US, our recruiters interview hundreds of IT candidates every week. While hiring managers often focus on tools, job titles, and surface-level experience, we’re trained to go deeper. Sometimes the best hire isn’t the one who only checks the technical expertise box, but the one who communicates clearly, and adapts quickly. What Clients Often Focus On When reviewing resumes, most hiring managers filter by: -Familiar job titles -Specific tools and languages -Industry match -Certifications All valid. But also limiting. Especially in contract work, where time-to-productivity matters more than pedigree. What Our Recruiters Look For 1. Technical knowledge Advanced knowledge in required skillsets, and/or similar tools 2. Ramp-Up Readiness Some resumes scream "qualified", but we know from voice tone, project ownership, and how they speak about onboarding that they won’t be ready for fast-moving or heavily matrixed teams One DevOps engineer was technically perfect, but took too long to get up to speed. A quieter second-choice candidate? Leading deployment in week two. 3. Communication Style Can they explain what they do in plain English? Can they own their gaps? Do they respond clearly and quickly? Those are green flags we always catch. We placed a QA analyst who wasn’t the most credentialed but consistently flagged critical bugs because she asked the right clarifying questions. 4. Project Ownership Many candidates list responsibilities, but we listen for results. “I migrated a legacy system and cut costs by 30%” tells us more than “worked on a team writing Java.” The Disconnect: How We Bridge It Hiring managers often don’t get the full picture in a 30-minute interview or filtered resume stack. We do. Because: We spend more time with candidates We ask about context, not just credentials We’ve seen patterns across thousands of placements And when we flag someone who’s worth a second look it’s because we’re thinking about your outcome, not just your checklist. **Final Thought** Hiring is more than matching resumes to job descriptions. It’s about seeing the full picture and knowing what matters when the pressure is on. Let us help you catch the intangibles before they slip through. #ITJobs #DelphiUS #WeCanHelp
