One of the projects I’m most proud of was Populate — a system I built in 2022 that pushed the boundaries of large-scale character simulation. We created a living world with 50,000 fully rigged characters, where a player could seamlessly step into any one of them and interact with dynamically customized, full-boned characters around them. Unlike many approaches that relied on VAT meshes at the time, Populate went further — enabling immersion at a scale that felt like the future of gaming. I was grateful to be at Hadean, where I had the opportunity to push game technology beyond conventional limits and explore what’s possible when you combine innovation with ambition. 🎮 #Devlog | Online FPS – Room & Player Systems Added! Continuing from my previous devlog where I built the FPS movement and gun mechanics, this week I added online functionality to the game! 🚀 What’s New: 🧑💻 Player Nicknames: Players can set their own nicknames before joining. 🏠 Room System: Players can create, join, and leave rooms freely. 🚪 Host Controls: Only the host of the room can start the game, ensuring proper session flow. 💬 Custom Names: Both nicknames and room names are fully customizable. 🧩 Editor-Only Test Room: Added a special room named “Test” visible only inside the Unity Editor, which lets me test builds faster and more seamlessly. ⚡All online features are powered by Photon PUN, which made the multiplayer integration smooth and efficient Right now, players can’t see or shoot each other yet, but that’s the next big milestone I’m working toward — syncing player movement, shooting, and hit detection across the network.
