🕒 Could we be spotting brain health changes earlier? In many care settings, assessments often start with symptoms and surveys—helpful, but they may miss subtle early changes in cognition. Cognition—memory, attention, reasoning—can be an early signal that something in the brain is shifting. In this article, we detail how digital cognitive testing makes it easier to measure these changes early and routinely, supporting timely conversations, care planning, and better patient outcomes. What connects your vision to your brain? 🧠👁️ In this Ticker TV interview, Dr. Adrian Lopresti explores the fascinating science of the Eye–Brain Axis, and why it is redefining how we understand vision and cognition. When we think of vision, we often stop at the eyes. But science reminds us that our eyes and brain are in constant communication - the eyes don’t just see; they help shape how the brain perceives, processes, and responds. This dynamic interaction, known as the Eye–Brain Axis, is an emerging field of research that deepens our understanding of visual and cognitive health. At Bio-gen Extracts, we are advancing this next frontier of cognition through innovation, clinical science, and purpose-driven research. Our flagship ingredient, Lute-gen®, has been developed to support the health and function of the Eye–Brain Axis, and has been clinically studied for its role in visual memory and learning in a gold-standard randomized controlled trial. Because when the eyes and brain work together in balance, the world becomes clearer - in every sense. 🎥 This post features a short excerpt from the interview with Dr.Adrian Lopresti on Ticker TV. With new analysis of everyday speech reveals that subtle timing features—such as pauses, fillers, and word-finding delays—are tightly linked to executive function across adulthood. These natural speech cues predicted cognitive performance even after accounting for demographic factors, offering a sensitive window into early cognitive changes. Because speech is effortless and free from practice effects, it may provide a highly scalable method for detecting accelerated decline before dementia symptoms emerge. Overall, these findings highlight naturalistic speech as a promising tool for continuous cognitive monitoring in real-world settings. 🧩 Puzzle Solving and the Science of Neuroplasticity Every time we solve a puzzle, our brain rewires itself. This process, known as neuroplasticity, is the brain’s ability to form and strengthen new neural connections in response to challenge, curiosity, and repetition. When you engage in hands-on, problem-based play, multiple systems activate at once: -Cognitive: strengthens reasoning and memory networks (Diamond & Lee, 2011) -Sensory-motor: integrates touch, vision, and coordination pathways (García-Sierra et al., 2020) -Emotional: releases dopamine, reinforcing motivation and focus (Kang et al., 2009) Over time, these small bursts of activity contribute to greater cognitive flexibility, resilience, and creative problem-solving, the same neural traits linked to lifelong learning and healthy aging (Park & Reuter-Lorenz, 2009). In wellness settings, introducing puzzle-based experiences like Orb-ix™ can help teams train focus, adaptability, and innovation, all through play that literally reshapes the brain. It can help re-sharpen focus before a major event involving focus and performance! “Neuroplasticity is experience-dependent, every challenge is an opportunity to rewire.” hashtag #Neuroplasticity hashtag #LearningAndDevelopment hashtag #EmployeeEngagement hashtag #CognitiveWellness hashtag #BrainHealth hashtag #PuzzleBasedLearning hashtag #WorkplaceInnovation hashtag #Orbix hashtag #CraftPilot
