World Compassionate Communities Day – 1 November 2025 Achieving the Promise: Universal Access to Palliative Care Today we join colleagues and communities around the world in recognising World Compassionate Communities Day. This year’s theme “Achieving the Promise: Universal Access to Palliative Care” highlights something powerful and deeply human: · Everyone, everywhere, deserves access to palliative care. · Care is not only clinical - it is social, relational, and community-held. While palliative care is often seen as the responsibility of health services, true care extends far beyond hospitals and medical settings. It lives in our neighbourhoods, workplaces, clubs, faith groups, and community organisations. Compassionate Communities Australia recognise that serious illness, dying and grief are not just medical events - they are social experiences that require social responses. When communities are informed, connected, and confident: · people feel less alone · families feel supported, and · our health system is strengthened, not stretched. Today, we celebrate the countless individuals, volunteers, organisations, and communities who are quietly supporting others through illness, death, and grief. Together, we are demonstrating what is possible when compassion becomes a shared responsibility. ✨ May we continue to build a world where care is accessible, relationships are honoured, and no one walks the road alone. #WorldCompassionateCommunitiesDay #CompassionateCommunities #PalliativeCare #PublicHealthApproach #CommunityCare #CompassionInAction #ConnectionCreatesChange
