“Government cannot meet this moment alone. Foundations bring deep relationships, flexible capital, and long-term vision. Charities more broadly enhance social well-being, deliver essential services, foster civic engagement, and support public policy objectives through community-based initiatives. Budget 2025 could have gone further in recognizing -and activating - the value of cross-sector collaboration in the generational investments that Canada needs.” - Jean-Marc Mangin - Read more in Philanthropic Foundations Canada's Policy Advisory on Budget 2025 - https://ow.ly/sGSy50Xn84p #budget2025

🌎 As climate disasters grow more frequent, generosity is rising — but unevenly. A new study co-authored by Schulich Professor Gregory Saxton finds that climate risk drives more donations to nonprofits, especially those providing local community support. But not all organizations benefit equally, with some seeing declines when government aid increases. “Climate change isn’t just reshaping our environment – it’s reshaping philanthropy.” 🔗 Read more: https://bit.ly/4qHvlIn #SchulichResearch #ClimateChange #Philanthropy #SocialImpact #Nonprofits #BusinessEthics

In rural Australia, small charities are the glue that holds communities together but they’re often under-resourced and overlooked. The Investing in Rural Community Futures (IRCF) program from Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal (FRRR) is changing that giving grassroots organisations the tools, confidence and partnerships to dream big and act locally. Thanks to a $5M collaboration between four philanthropic partners, including the William Buckland Foundation, managed by Equity Trustees, communities like Swan Hill, Maryborough and Colac are now building roadmaps for a stronger, more resilient future. “That’s the power of trust-based philanthropy. It allows people to imagine and then to act.” Read more: https://lnkd.in/g395v6Rz Read the latest edition: https://lnkd.in/gJfR_R2a Find more stories from the frontline at our Horizon Centre: https://lnkd.in/gyBqqn98 #horizon #philanthropy

New research co-authored by Bayes Business School for Barclays Private Bank has found that high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs) have significantly increased their charitable giving over the last five years not only in money, but also in time, skills and advocacy. The Modern Philanthropist sampled 500 donors with more than £1 million of investible assets. Questions explored how much they typically gave, where they focused donations, their reasons for giving and their motivations to doing so. A companion report, High-net worth giving in the UK: The giving of the UK’s millionaire population, a five year overview, co-authored by Cathy Pharoah, Visiting Professor at Bayes Business School, estimates the value and trends in annual giving by high net-worth donors over the last five years. 🔗 Read more on the findings: https://ow.ly/nzli50XlMc7 #BayesExperts #Philanthropy

For Jellis Craig CEO Andrew McCann, addressing homelessness isn’t just a social cause, it’s an extension of what real estate stands for. Through the Jellis Craig Foundation, which has raised nearly $4 million to support charities including the Lighthouse Foundation, McAuley and The Big Umbrella, Andrew is helping to shift industry thinking from transactions to humanity. He believes homelessness and housing insecurity are issues the profession can no longer ignore, and that agents, who work at the heart of housing every day, have both the insight and the influence to be part of the solution. #realestate #eliteagent #eliteagentmag #realestateagent Full details in the comment below 👇
