When Erica Hoffman learned she was at risk for cancer, her first thought wasn’t about herself. It was about her husband, her daughter, and what would happen if she got sick. Color’s oncologist-led care team helped her monitor her risk, guided her through preventive options, and supported her decision to move forward with preventative mastectomy surgery. What doctors found changed everything: an early-stage tumor that might have gone undetected for years. After surgery, Color’s active treatment clinicians helped her manage recovery and nutrition, reducing her risk of recurrence. Her employer also wrapped around her with short-term disability benefits and coordination for appointments. Friends brought meals, coworkers sent care packages, and her community made sure her daughter got to soccer practice. “It was go time,” Erica says. “You just do the best you can.” Her story shows what happens when access, clinical care, and human connection all come together to make cancer care work.
