Your ESA application can do more than confirm eligibility -- it can help you make better program decisions. All week we've been sharing tips from Sarah Raybon, ClassWallet’s VP of Business Development and ESA expert, here's her final insight: 📊 Tip #3: Use your application to collect strategic data. Adding a few optional, non-intrusive questions like: • How did you hear about the program? • What services do you plan to use? • Will your student homeschool or attend private school? …can give you powerful insights to improve outreach, marketplace design, and reporting. 👉 See all 3 tips in our latest blog: https://bit.ly/4nwv1tf

Every little move you make online is tracked, sorted, organised, packaged and monetised, but not by you. It all happens invisibly, capturing actions we’re unaware of, stored in places we’ve no access to, sold to people we don’t know and all managed by billion dollar data broker companies we’ve never heard of. And still people say ‘so what?’ Well let’s start with the creepiness. Would you let someone you know spy on every tiny thing you do online? Creeping on and storing your every interest, behaviour, preference (the ones you’re comfortable sharing, and the ones you’re not.) and that’s before the whole analysing it and selling it to whoever might have use for it - political parties (ones you align with and ones you really don’t) businesses (legit or shady), or even scammers (little local ones or big bot farms). Working with ADAPT Centre and funded by Research Ireland, Karl Toomey developed a series of projects to help make it all more visible and tangible. So take 5 minutes and play the game, or visit an exhibition of National College of Art & Design students data futures at The Digital Hub Development Agency next week. #strategicdesign #publicfutures #digitaldemocracy #socialinnovation #humancentred

Will you be attending the California Educational Research Association conference on November 4th? Our very own Alyssa Nguyen and Daisy Segovia will be presenting "Enhancing University Transfer for Rural Community College Students." About Our Session Rural community college students face significant hurdles in transferring to four-year institutions, which impacts their economic mobility. Building on our previous work that found a negative correlation between distance from a public university and transfer rates, this session will unveil new findings from interviews and focus groups with rural community college staff and students, exploring these unique challenges and identifying effective strategies. We seek to inform policy and practice, stimulating discussion on improving transfer outcomes for all community college students in rural areas.
I'm attending my first California Educational Research Association conference as part of the Center for Economic Mobility at WestEd and presenting next Monday on using DataVista for researching dual enrollment and CTE in the #CaliforniaCommunityColleges. If you're going to be attending, what would you like to see included in my presentation?

Another Association of Internet Researchers conference presentation from Laura Vodden, Katharina Esau, Axel Bruns, and Tariq Choucair. https://lnkd.in/gxUFcBfC This study discusses the potential role of LLMs in frame analysis. Framing is the selective presentation of information and can provide insight on the motivations of communicators. The team uses a case study of Australian news coverage of climate activism to demonstrate if automating frame analysis is possible, and compares human versus LLM coders. This study will be of interest to those who utilise frame analysis, or are eager to see if LLMs can bridge current methodological gaps in coding. The findings indicate that LLMs have potential for use in inductive frame analysis but further validation and discussion is needed.

We are delighted to announce the launch of the Enrolment Snapshot 2025, a free benchmarking tool created by [YELLOW CAR] in partnership with the Learning Analytics Collaborative. This is a tool that can help you understand your school’s enrolment in comparison to regional and global trends. Through a secure and simple platform, participating schools can: 🟡 Visualize how their enrolment trends align with regional and global patterns. 🟡 Understand where their school’s story fits within the wider landscape of international and independent education. 🟡 Trust that their data remains private — schools only ever see their own data compared to anonymised, aggregated trends. It takes just one minute to participate — and your contribution helps shape a richer, more connected picture of enrolment dynamics worldwide Suzette Parlevliet David Willows Piotr Olczak #school #data #learning #dashboards 📅 Submit your school’s data by 10 November 2025 (today) to be part of this year’s global snapshot: 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gSfWVcUD
