🚒 Above & Beyond Recognition – Katy Fire Department 🚒 On May 31, 2025, Katy Fire Department units responded to a serious motor vehicle accident on IH-10 where an overturned vehicle was partially submerged in water with a victim trapped inside. Through quick action, teamwork, and extraordinary bravery, KFD crews successfully rescued the victim with assistance from an off-duty EMS professional — saving a life under extremely dangerous conditions. Today, Mayor William H. "Dusty" Thiele proudly presented the City of Katy’s Above and Beyond Recognition to the responders on scene — Truck 1, Quint 2, Medic 1, Medic 2, Battalion 1 — with special mention of Firefighter Amanda Garrett for her pivotal role in the rescue. 👏 We are grateful to every responder who went above and beyond the call of duty.
