Community Housing Industry Association Victoria’s Post

How can we transform more council-owned spaces into affordable homes? That was the hot topic at our seminar this week, which drew together councillors, council staff as well as community housing organisations from across the state. Co-hosted by Municipal Association of Victoria (MAV), the seminar highlighted what councils can do to create more affordable housing in their municipalities. We heard about: 🏡 The Local Government Housing Innovation Program, a joint project from MAV and City of Greater Dandenong. 🏡 Banyule City Council’s partnership with Launch Housing to develop the Bellfield social housing project 🏡 Adaptive re-use of council land for social housing 🏡 How HousingFirst Ltd has worked with City of Port Phillip and Whitehorse City Council to deliver affordable housing on council land Thanks to MAV CEO Kelly Grigsby, Marjan Hajari from City of Greater Dandenong, Simon McPherson from McP, Daniel Fantin from Banyule City Council, and Aaron Flavell and Danielle Leigh from HousingFirst. The seminar is part of CHIA Vic’s Knowledge & Networking series, supported by Homes Victoria.
