BSI report: Women's optimism about closing the gender pay gap drops sharply

Optimism about closing the gender pay gap has fallen sharply 📉 🔎New research from BSI’s 2025 Lifting the Second Glass Ceiling report reveals that only two fifths of women globally (41%) believe the gap will be closed in their lifetime. This is a drop from 57% just two years ago. Confidence in reaching leadership positions has also fallen, from 60% to 46%, with women less optimistic about receiving the same flexibility and support as men to remain in the workforce long term. The research highlights the importance of employers creating a culture of care that responds to different life experiences. This means investing in both formal and informal support, from menopause and miscarriage policies to flexible working arrangements. These measures are not just about retention, they are about ensuring women feel able to thrive throughout their careers and can continue to contribute to the success of their organizations.
