Productive strategic planning session recently with leadership staff at Riverbend Community Mental Health! We worked through drafting goals and objectives for their strategy road map, which heads to the board for approval later this month. The team came prepared with great ideas for how to bring their plan to life operationally in the next several years. What made this work together effective: A team that knows their mission and understands their community. They tackled concrete questions about what is needed, their capacity, and the most important priorities in meeting growing demand for mental health services in New Hampshire. This wasn't about creating a document to check a box—it was about building a relevant and actionable framework for their greatest impact in the next few years. Looking forward to seeing how this plan shapes up as we refine it in the coming weeks--and to see their work evolve as they continue serving their community! #StrategicPlanning #MentalHealth #NonprofitLeadership #CommunityMentalHealthCenter #Community

In October, fifty Pioneer Community Living Association (PCLA) staff participated in a full-day training led by Fraser Health’s Trauma & Resiliency Informed Practice (TRIP) team. The session, “Connecting Hope and Self-Compassion to Trauma & Resiliency Informed Practices,” explored how trauma and chronic stress affect the brain and body, and how mindfulness, self-compassion, and hope can strengthen recovery and resilience. This customized training reflects Fraser Health’s recognition of PCLA’s role in mental health housing and recovery, and our shared commitment to creating environments where residents and staff can thrive. #PioneerCommunityLiving #PCLAservices #CommunityMentalHealth #RecoveryOrientedCare #TraumaInformedPractice #SupportiveHousing #HousingAndHealth #InclusiveCommunities #MentalHealthMatters #CommunityCare #BC #SocialImpact Read more here:

Local employers play a vital role in advancing community health. In our November feature, we spoke with Lee Carmichael and Bruce Carter of Weddle Bros. Construction Companies about how their leadership is helping address the challenges of mental health across Indiana. For more than 75 years, Weddle has built spaces where people live, learn, and grow. Today, that same commitment extends beyond the job site—reflecting a belief that strong communities are built not only through infrastructure, but through compassion, connection, and care. Big names. Bigger conversations. A united effort for Men’s Mental Health. This November, NORTH STAFFS MIND and Cheshire Mind are joining forces with Jonty Sargeant, the Professional Footballers' Association (PFA), and PREM Management to shine a spotlight on men’s wellbeing and mental health. Throughout the month, football professionals and well-known voices in the game will be opening up about their own experiences — sharing the emotional realities behind life in sport. This campaign, supported by Prem Management, is about more than awareness — it’s about connection. About showing that even the strongest among us can struggle, and that reaching out for help should be seen as strength, not shame. 💬 “This is a real opportunity for collective good — bringing conversation around men’s mental health to the forefront. This collaboration, arranged by Jonty Sargeant, marks a decisive change in attitudes.” — Steve Channon, Head of Corporate Engagement, North Staffs and Cheshire Mind Let’s use this moment to talk more, listen better, and support one another — both on and off the pitch. 💭 What helps you open up when life gets tough? In the Global mental health field, it often appears that many philanthropists, donors, and supporting organizations tend to focus more on the prevalence and scale of mental health challenges than on the locally driven solutions emerging from diverse communities and ethnic groups. This emphasis on highlighting problems sometimes results in greater visibility and support for those presenting the issues, rather than for those working quietly to address them at the ground level, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. #MentalHealthMatters #GlobalMentalHealth #CommunityWellbeing #MentalHealthForAll #WellnessForAll #RedefiningAid #DecolonizingMentalHealth #CommunityLedSolutions #LocalVoicesGlobalImpact #SustainableChange #FromProblemsToSolutions #MentalHealthInLMICs #EquityInMentalHealth #GlobalSouthLeadership #InclusiveDevelopment #EthicalPhilanthropy #BeTheChange #ActionForWellbeing #GroundUpChange #EmpathyInAction #HumanizingMentalHealth

A new campaign, “No Load Is Too Heavy to Share”, from The Emergence Health Network (EHN), along with Paso del Norte Community Foundation in Texas is raising awareness about the mental health challenges facing truck drivers. Long hours, isolation, irregular schedules, and job pressures take a toll on the people who keep our supply chains running. This initiative is a reminder that mental health support must extend to all sectors including transportation. Employers, industry leaders, and the community each have a role to play in reducing stigma and ensuring access to care. Let’s keep the conversation moving forward, because no load is too heavy when it’s shared. #WorkplaceWellness #TruckingIndustry #MentalHealthAwareness #EmployeeSupport #NoLoadTooHeavy

Prioritizing mental health is non-negotiable. We kicked off our Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Symposium earlier this month with a day of empowering and courageous conversations among team members. Thank you to Anishinaabe Traditional Grandmother Kim Wheatley for her wisdom, and to our inspiring speakers, Corey Hirsch (former NHL goalie), Craig (Canadian Armed Forces veteran), and our employee panel, for bravely sharing their mental health journeys. When people are empowered to share their stories, our workplace becomes stronger and safer for everyone. DEI is how we thrive at Hydro One: https://ow.ly/OGgI50XlOIY. ( 📸 Julie Riemersma)
