Most AI startups will never get acquired. I know… because sometimes, I'm the one saying 'no' As a former CDO, CAO, CDAO, and CAIO for companies like Estée Lauder, Merck, Sony Music, IBM, Amazon and more, I've sat in the rooms where we decided which AI startups to buy, which to use, and which to walk away from. And guess what, the tech is rarely the problem. It’s the risk. Deals collapse when founders can’t answer questions like: – Where did your training data come from? – Will this integrate with SAP, Salesforce, or Workday? – Will 50,000 employees actually use it? – Will this product still matter in 12 months? Enterprises also judge where your AI fits: - Is it a microtasker (small automations)? - A copilot (amplifying people)? - A pilot (making decisions)?   - Or a teammate (embedded in the org chart)?
