Precision is everything.
Go behind the scenes with our official logistics partner, Atlas Air, and take a look into the team's procedures as we find out what it takes to move our entire operation from base to race.
Precision in Formula One is everything. Everything is needed in advance. Everything's needed just now. I'm Franco Masara, head of race and trackside logistics at Aston Martin Ramco Formula One team. We look after logistics, getting everything from the UK out to all the races. Most satisfying part of my job is working as part of the team. We've got a good crew of people. So we're just unloading the air freight. Let's come from the last race and we're putting it into trucks ready to go to the next race. We do ship almost 29 ton of air freight at the moment. We start preparations weeks in advance. We're looking at what we need to send. It takes two days to complete a pack up of air freight, another pallet ready for the race. Small differences between particular customs procedures and we always find a way to get these out there. From my designers and the Arrow team. For the manufacturing team, all the way through to logistics, precision is ultra important. When we're looking to maximize our container space, we work down to millimeters to make sure we can squeeze everything in. Needs to be on that car and out on track on time.
