Without diving into a full feature by feature comparison, here are a few things I think make it stand out: ✅ UX/UI The user experience feels like melting butter. It's highly responsive, intuitive, and clearly shaped by Logan Kilpatrick and his team shipping what matters. In chat scrollbars have hoverable bubbles showing your previous prompts. For longer projects, this has saved me hours compared to endlessly scrolling through +1 million tokens. The UI is modular, letting you set up keybinds, system prompts, and finetune features. Accidentally hitting Enter when you meant a line break? No more. Reusability shortcuts for prompts, system prompts, and storage make the experience extremely QoL friendly. ✅ Free It’s completely free with a Google account without limiting capabilities. You get access to: Gemini Pro Preview - their flagship model Cutting edge tools like Vibe Coding (build an app), Nano Banana (image generation), and even some robotics models Large context windows that seen to retain info better than competitors ⚠️ Cons Free usage means your data is technically the product, but the paid API offers full security. Copywriting and some language tasks still fall short imo. OpenAI just launched something crazy 🔥 It’s called ChatGPT Atlas, an AI-powered browser. AI labs aren’t stopping at chatbots or web apps anymore. They’re moving into the most native, rigid interface we all use every day, browsers. Atlas can perform tasks across tabs asynchronously, extract context from what you’re doing, and basically just do things while you browse. Now think about it, nearly 50% of our time on PCs is spent inside browsers, especially when what we do is tied to the web. 🌅 Lately, I’ve been diving into the world of future AI, focusing on AGI and ASI, which are ideas about AI performing human-like tasks and even improving itself. Naturally, it brings up concerns about AI replacing human workers, including designers. Yes, these are absolutely uncertain times, but I want to focus on opportunities for human designers in the long-term future: 1️⃣ AI is excellent at spotting patterns and generating quality content. I see it assisting designers extensively with brainstorming, ideation, and review. 2️⃣ No matter how advanced AI becomes, it cannot change one thing: Our humanity. Users will always seek experiences that connect on a human level. With 9+ years as a storyteller, I know digital experiences are often bridges between designers and consumers, building genuine emotional connections. The challenge is clear. How do we maximize human connection in product design? Empathy will always be key. People are naturally social, and human designers will always have a place to thrive. No, I don't want AI 'enhancement' in your app. I don't want my search results to be off the page because you put a useless AI generated paragraph at the top. I don't want a WhatsApp button to use AI in the way all the time. I don't want AI assistance to write my LinkedIn post, or a ticket or wiki page in our systems, or write a commit message on Github. If this stuff is useful to some people then provide it as an option, I suppose. But don't force it upon us. Especially as running those AI actions is expensive for you. #GenAI
