Everyone in #payments loves the story: "Network tokens = higher approvals, lower fraud, happier customers." And when they work, they really work. But here’s the truth: It only works when you do it right, and so many in the space are doing it wrong. The biggest landmines? 1. Midstream migration mistakes - missing cryptograms (a one-time proof the tokenized credential is genuine) on MITs, especially with MasterCard. 2. Bad data hygiene - overwriting valid expiry info or mismanaging lifecycle updates. 3. Processor shortcuts - not all #tokenization is created equal (only a few like Checkout.com and Adyen execute flawlessly). 4. ECI and indicator chaos - most merchants send MITs wrong and never realize it. The result: flat or worse approval rates - and a false sense of “we’ve modernized.” Yaaaaay. As we’re seeing at FlexPay, authorization optimization isn’t just about adopting the latest rail. It’s about precision: cryptograms, flags, metadata, and issuer collaboration all have to be right. Because a failed authorization isn’t just a decline - it’s lost income, lost customers, and lost growth.

Mastercard x PayPal join forces to bring Agentic Al Payments mainstream. Here's how and why it matters: Agent-driven commerce is no longer theory, it's happening. Mastercard's Agent Pay will be integrated into PayPal's wallet, enabling consumers to make purchases guided by Al assistants while Mastercard provides the secure payment rails behind the scenes. The collaboration extends across PayPal's millions of merchants and co-branded cards, building a shared infrastructure for Al-powered shopping, with trust and tokenization at its core. Mastercard's Chief Digital Officer Pablo Fourez called it "a paradigm shift bigger than the move to mobile." From agent verification and consent capture to dispute management and interoperability, both firms are laying the foundation for Al agents to transact safely and globally. The first wave of agentic experiences is expected to roll out during the 2025 holiday season, the beginning of a new era where your Al might shop for you. Source/more info: https://lnkd.in/gf-Pff8d Do you think consumers will soon trust Al agents to handle payments on their behalf? Let me know in the comments https://lnkd.in/gf-Pff8d

Mastercard x PayPal: The Next Leap in Agentic Commerce 🚀 Really exciting to see this collaboration between Mastercard and PayPal — it’s a big moment for the industry and for those of us who’ve been part of the Agent Pay journey. This partnership signals a real shift in how commerce will work: 🔹 From user-initiated to agent-driven — where trusted AI agents can shop, compare, and pay on our behalf. 🔹 Frictionless merchant participation — any PayPal-enabled merchant can now tap into agent-based flows with almost no extra lift. 🔹 Secure identity + tokenization at the core — making credential sharing and agent verification safe and scalable. Mastercard has been ahead of this curve with Agent Pay and our early work on agent frameworks — so it’s great to see that vision expand at ecosystem scale. Personally, I’m thrilled to see how this evolves — connecting networks, wallets, and agents into one seamless experience. This is just the start of what intelligent, frictionless commerce will look like. #Mastercard #PayPal #AgentPay #AgenticCommerce #Fintech #PaymentsInnovation https://lnkd.in/eZ9mWTk5

Software companies have to answer 2 questions when choosing to upgrade payments infrastructure: (1) How much additional revenue/profit/enterprise value will I create? (2) How big is the lift/level of effort to change? Forward normally increases payments income 3x-5x. Now, we've collapsed level of effort from weeks to a day. Check out this feature clients are already using....

CHANGE IN PAYMENTS IS ONLY GETTING STARTED With increasing payments options for consumers, the winner will be the option that gives minimum friction, maximum fraud protection and as close to universal acceptance as possible. The global payment landscape is evolving faster than ever but we’re still just scratching the surface. Digital payments have now become the default. From daily transactions to e-commerce, real-time payment systems are setting a new industry benchmark for speed, security, and convenience. Yet, cash and cards haven’t disappeared. They remain deeply rooted in customer behavior, especially in offline transactions. The transition toward fully digital ecosystems is uneven across markets, shaped by local infrastructure and user habits. At the same time, digital wallets are reshaping how consumers interact with money though the ecosystem remains fragmented. Each wallet operates differently, from credit card top-ups to direct bank linking, preventing full interoperability. Cross-border payments remain one of the biggest challenges. Despite advances in technology, a lack of standardized systems and global connectivity continues to slow down seamless international transfers. As payment networks move faster, real-time fraud detection becomes a non-negotiable. Security must now evolve at the same speed as innovation. Ultimately, transformation in payments isn’t just about technology it’s about people. Consumers expect frictionless, secure, and personalized experiences. Businesses that adapt to these expectations will define the next chapter of digital commerce. The change has only just begun and the most exciting part is still ahead. #Fintech #DigitalPayments #Innovation #Tingee #FinancialTechnology
