Today, on behalf of the UK Government, Lord Vallance unveiled the UK Roadmap to Reduce Animal Testing in Drug Development. What’s particularly exciting is the emphasis on #OrganOnAChip, #3DBioprinting, and their integration with #AI and in silico modelling. Together, these technologies are redefining how we study human biology, offering models that are not only more humane, but also more human-relevant. However, these models need to be appropriately characterised and validated so I am also delighted to read that the UK will establish a preclinical translational models hub, the UK Centre for the Validation of Alternative Methods (UKCVAM) to accelerate the path to regulatory approval for these tools. https://lnkd.in/eExsAm9i

Amazing to see. More shifting towards organoids and shying away from animal testing is a win in my book!
