Good advice! You’ve landed an interview …. Your resume made an impact. Out of all the other applicants, your experience and qualifications set you apart. We can provide a list of interview do’s and don’ts. We help candidates prepare and do mock interviews. If there was one piece of advise, this one sums it up - “Hiring managers see it time and time again: experienced professionals tend to assume their longer track record requires longer explanations,” writes Fast Company contributor Eve Upton-Clark. Instead of a long inflated answer: “Trim the fat and replace vague descriptions with quantifiable achievements.”

If you have an interview early next week, The weekend is your friend. The best thing you can do is to prepare and prepare well. Here is what I recommend you do: - Review your CV. - Make sure you remember what you have delivered. - Be ready to describe the projects you have worked on. - Be clear on the contribution you made and the challenges you helped solve. - Search for common interview questions for your role. - Practise answering them out loud. - Write down questions you want to ask the interview panel. Do this and you will be better prepared than most candidates walking into the same interview. Preparation builds confidence. Confidence shapes how you show up. And how you show up is often the difference between a good interview and a great one.

I heard lots of candidates saying this after interviews: "Actually, I didn't speak a lot." Many recruiters speak too much during interviews. They spend the entire time explaining the company, the project, the role details, and the candidate just listens in silence. Here's what happens: - You learn nothing about the candidate - They can't demonstrate their thinking - You miss red flags and strengths - The candidate feels unheard - You make decisions based on assumptions The rule I follow: The candidate should speak 70% of the time, minimum. If you are a recruiter, your job is to understand if this person is the right for the role. How to fix this: - Ask open-ended questions - Let silence do the work - Resist the urge to fill gaps - Take notes instead of talking - Save your pitch for the end You already know about your company and role. What you don't know is sitting across from you. Let them talk. How do you balance talking vs. listening in interviews?

Open interviews may inadvertently create a scenario where candidates feel ghosted. It raises questions about the purpose of the application process when candidates are invited to an open interview without prior knowledge of who they will meet. This lack of transparency can lead to confusion and frustration for candidates who have invested time in the application process. Understanding the rationale behind this approach could provide valuable insights into improving the candidate experience.

The first interview is often the worst one. It’s not the candidate’s fault. It’s not even the hiring manager’s fault. It’s the structure. Too many first interviews are a repeat of what’s already been covered.. Background, CV talk, the company story (again). By the end, both sides leave thinking: “Not sure we learned anything new” The fix? - Pre-screen questions that dig into what matters. - A short video or intro deck about the company beforehand. - A focused chat on the role, not the CV. The best interviews feel like a conversation - not a Q&A. Stockford Recruitment

💡 Interview Reality 💼 Interviews are not just about answering questions — they’re about showing who you are beyond your resume. The reality is: ✅ You might prepare perfectly, yet face unexpected questions. ✅ Sometimes the best candidate doesn’t get selected — and that’s okay. ✅ It’s not always about experience, but about attitude, communication, and fit. ✅ Every interview teaches something new — confidence, clarity, and self-awareness. So don’t get discouraged by rejections. Every “No” brings you closer to the right “Yes.” #InterviewReality #JobSearch #CareerGrowth #HRInsights #Recruitment #APACRecruitment #SGHiring #Singaporejobs
