Fracturing has long been an open-loop process, relying on assumptions instead of direct evidence. Tomorrow, Larry Carroll and Steven Bourgoyne will show how real-time subsurface feedback and adaptive automation make every stage smarter than the last. Closed Loop Fracturing is no longer a concept. It’s operational reality. ProFrac Services San Juan Basin Energy Conference #ClosedLoopFracturing #ProFrac #Seismos #HydraulicFracturing #EnergyInnovation #DigitalCompletions

Last week, QuantifiedCarbon attended the EAGE (European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers) GET 2025 conference, where our Geostorage Expert, Dr. Davi R. Damasceno, and Energy Systems Analyst, Dr. Sebastian Svanström, joined fascinating discussions on enabling the energy transition, from geopolitical aspects to geological risk assessments. In the hydrogen and energy storage section, it became clear that much attention is focused on salt caverns and porous reservoirs for large-scale energy storage. However, as we also highlighted in our presentation, the Lined Rock Cavern (LRC) concept offers a compelling alternative, addressing some of the limitations of other geological storage options. With LRCs, storage can be located close to demand centers, and the steel lining eliminates the need for gas treatment by preventing interaction with the surrounding rock formation. We see significant research and business opportunities in this area and are excited to collaborate with partners driving the next generation of energy storage solutions. #EAGEGET2025 #QuantifiedCarbon #EnergyTransition #Geostorage #LinedRockCavern #Opportunity

#MondayMorningMethane Week 26 🎥 This is a trailer! Link to full video in comments. This week I’m joined by Andy Collard, PEng, an industry pioneer in thinking about optimizing methane technology deployment - for safety, cost, and emissions outcomes. Andy works at TC Energy, which operates across Canada, the U.S., and Mexico, covering thousands of sites, some so remote they’re only accessible by helicopter. Managing #LDAR programs across that scale is a massive undertaking. Andy and his team worked with Highwood Emissions Management to optimize TC’s leak detection and repair program using simulation. They wanted to understand: ❓ Which sites contribute the most to emissions risk? ❓ How can we balance cost, safety, and emissions outcomes? The new LDAR program was implemented. Andy's team tracked the following real-world, measured outcomes: ✔️ 50% reduction in technician driving distance (major safety win - they were driving 800,000 km in Canada alone for LDAR) ✔️ 20% fewer emissions compared to the prior year ✔️ ~5% cost savings It’s a great example of what happens when you combine solid field data with simulation in LDAR-Sim to make smarter, safer, lower-emission decisions. Many operators are sitting on vast amounts of methane data but not using it to inform operational excellence. Reach out if you want to work with Highwood to analyze that data and turn it into better decisions. 🎥 This is a trailer! The Sonic Straight Story Terra Sonic International is changing the game for geothermal well loop installation with our proprietary Sonic Percussive Method and true SONIC drill rigs. Our technology produces amazing results, delivering straight boreholes with less than 1° of deviation at 450 ft. deep. SONIC drilling improves the performance of geothermal systems by ensuring boreholes are installed at extremely accurate depths and locations. This minimizes the risk of unintended intersections between closely spaced boreholes and expedites the installation and grouting of thermal loops. It also maximizes potential thermal energy use by maintaining consistent subsurface borehole spacing and can even reduce the number of boreholes required. Congratulations to Faouzi Aloulou and the EIA team for an excellent analysis of decline rates in U.S. horizontal wells. It confirms the findings of the IEA’s Decline Rate Report, which showed that nearly 90% of upstream oil and gas investment since 2019 has gone to offset production declines rather than to meet demand growth. As Forbes pointed out, that result is often misinterpreted. The IEA is not warning of a supply collapse, but emphasizing that maintaining production now requires much higher levels of reinvestment. Decline rates are rising because more output comes from short-lived shale and other unconventional wells, so a larger share of capital goes to simply replacing what depletes each year. The key question is whether future investment will be sufficient to keep up with demand. If capital shifts away from short-cycle plays or long-lead projects face delays, the risk is not excess supply but unmet demand. This dynamic is not new. Decline replacement has always been part of upstream economics, but the scale today is unprecedented. Each marginal dollar of spending adds less net new capacity than before. The EIA and IEA together make clear that the industry must "now run faster just to stay still", and that how and where capital is deployed will determine whether the world can keep pace. #EIA #IEA #OilandGas #EnergyEconomics #DeclineRates #UpstreamInvestment #ArrowHeadEconomics #EnergyPolicy

The #EPA granted primacy over Class VI Underground Injection Control wells to the State of #Texas, transferring sole authority for permitting wells used for geologic CO2 sequestration from the federal government to the Railroad Commission of Texas. This move should accelerate permitting for #carboncapture and storage projects and solidifies the state's position as a leader in the nationwide CCS industry. Read our #Environmental Team's latest alert for more on this development and the opportunities it presents for #energy companies and investors. https://bit.ly/4nZTFCx James McGuire | Matt Leopold | Ashley T. 𝗨𝗻𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗵'𝘀 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝘁: 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵-𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗦𝗲𝗶𝘀𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝗮𝗺𝗲-𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗚𝗲𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 As the world races toward net-zero, geothermal energy stands out as a reliable, baseload clean power source. Subsurface uncertainties can sink projects before they start, with exploration risks eating up large portions of budgets and timelines stretching several years. High-resolution 3D seismic surveys illuminate faults and fractures to identify permeable zones, helping to significantly reduce dry well rates. Yet, quality is king. Low-res data leads to ambiguous models, inflating costs by requiring repeat surveys, and leading to project delays. Ensuring your seismic program leads to high quality data and actionable insights requires survey optimization, technical equipment audits, and expert QC in acquisition, processing, and data evaluation in order for that data to pay dividends. In a sector where ROI hinges on precision, skimping on QC simply doesn't make sense. Verif-i can help: let's connect and heat up the conversation! #GeothermalEnergy #SeismicData #CleanEnergy #EnergyTransition #Sustainability #VerifiQC
