While not immediately obvious, many frustrations in healthcare, for both patients and providers, trace back to one core issue:
Missing, incomplete, or inaccessible health information.
When doctors don’t have the full story, important details fall through the cracks. Diagnoses are delayed, tests are repeated, patients feel lost, and ultimately care suffers. Not because providers don’t care, but because systems don’t connect.
Accessing your own medical records shouldn’t require weeks of waiting, awkward phone calls, unexplained fees, confusing forms, or blind trust.
We’re building Medda Technologies because patients deserve control over their health. This isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution. It’s a platform designed to meet people where they are, whether patient or provider, with tools to help close the gaps and improve continuity of care for everyone involved.
It's time we bring patients closer to their care.
As a physician I've witnessed (and been party to) the errors that can happen when we practice without the whole patient story. One would never accept a pilot flying without a detailed map, so why would we accept this from our health care providers? Yet so often we are 'flying blind' only using bits and pieces of our patients' health story to make life and death decisions. And surprisingly it works pretty well...until it doesn't.
Medda Technologies exists to empower people in their health journey. It gives an opportunity for shared learning. It puts up another screen to catch medical error. It changes the patient from an outsider into an active participant. Medda gives patients more understanding and agency, and greater trust between them and their health care provider.
The founding team working on this is incredible, with Martin Bshouty, Gareth du Plooy, Adam King, Ian Sutherland, Arden Bodnar, Kyle Wiebe, Adam Scrivens, (and more) combining their impressive skills and experience to move this forward at light speed.
Launching now in Manitoba, we will be expanding rapidly across the nation. We're just getting started!
