- [Instructor] Next, let's talk about using performance and security plug-ins. It's important to note that while performance and security plug-ins can be useful, the best security and performance activities that you can do for your site begin with protecting and optimizing your site on the server level. My course on building a secure WordPress site goes over that in tons of detail. So let's talk now about some plugins you can use to make your site even more secure and run even better. So back on the Add Plugins page, we can search for a plugin called Wordfence. Wordfence is a good example of a security plugin that works in the background to make your site harder for hackers to access. I can install it and activate it directly from here, and once it's activated Wordfence will ask where to email security alerts too.
