- [Instructor] I've opened up a different merge document for now. This is Event Sales Report and it's currently using the data source called Event Sales Summary. It's also in the exercise files in Chapter 2, just in case you have to go and add it manually. This is a sheet of sales and percentages. As you can see, this is not a dollar sign amount and this is not a nice tidy percentage that we can see. Let's have a look at our data source. Here's the Excel file. As you can see in this file, this is correctly showing as a dollar amount and this is correctly showing as a percentage. Therefore, these issues are happening in the Word document itself. With a little technical know-how we can fix it, and we can do that by updating these field codes and adding our own custom formatting switches, which you can do with any field in Word regardless of whether you're doing a mail merge or something different.
