- [Rick] In this video, I'll demonstrate how to configure a vSAN network on a cluster of ESXi hosts. And so, here you can see I'm logged into the vSphere Client. And the first thing I want to do is take a look at two of my ESXi hosts. As you can see here, I've got two hosts in this cluster currently. I'm going to pick the first host and go to Configure. And under Configure, what I want to look at is the Physical adapters. And notice on this particular ESXi host, I have vmnic2 that is currently not in use by any virtual switch. And if I look at my other host, we'll see the same situation. So, we have a spare VM NIC, a spare physical adapter on both of these hosts. And that's important because when I am setting up vSAN cluster, I want to have dedicated network throughput, I want to have a fast physical network, and I want to send all of my vSAN traffic over that specific physical network.
