- [Rick] In this video, I'll demonstrate how to upgrade an ESXi 7 host to ESXi 8. And I'm going to perform an interactive upgrade of this ESXi host. So here you can see I have an ESXi host that's running ESXi version 7. I'm just going to hit F12 here. I'm going to log in. And I am going to shut down this ESXi host. And I'm going to forcefully terminate any running VMs, even though there are no virtual machines running on this particular host. But what I want to do is shut the host down and I'm going to boot it up from the ESXi 8 installation media. So I'll hit F2 and allow this host to finish shutting down. So now my ESXi host is all done shutting down. And this particular host is actually a virtual machine running on a VMware workstation.
