Configure VM reservations and limits
- [Rick] In this video, we'll learn how to configure reservations and limits for a virtual machine in vSphere 8. So here you can see I'm in the vSphere client and I'm going to go to hosts and clusters. And I've got a virtual machine here called DemoVM, and I'm going to power this virtual machine on. And one of the reasons that I'm going to power this VM on is because I want to show you the difference between what settings are available when a VM is powered on versus when it's powered off. And so now that it's powered on, I'm going to right click DemoVM and I'm going to go to Edit Settings. And the first thing that I want to point out here is notice that I do not have the ability to specify the number of CPUs or the amount of memory that this virtual machine gets. And a little later in this course, I will talk about how to modify CPU count and memory on a virtual machine that is powered on, but we're not quite there yet.…
