- Welcome to the exciting world of video editing. You're in for an awesome ride because video editing is one of the most interesting forms of storytelling there is. It's the art of assembling pieces of video, audio, still images, text, graphics, and music together to construct something totally new. If you're new to this art form, it can be a lot to wrap your mind around since you may not have considered everything that goes into. Indeed, video editing is often considered an invisible craft. It's not really supposed to be noticed. When you watch films, you let the story consume you and the emotions wash over you. When you watch news stories or documentaries, you absorb and learn and discover. When you peruse videos on YouTube or your social media feed, you are entertained and informed and persuaded. It's the result of the video that you notice, the way that it made you feel, or what you learned or how you connected with the characters. It's not the hundreds or thousands of shots, sounds and sequences that make up the result. And yet all of those disparate choices assembled in a deliberate and meaningful way create the emotional impact of video storytelling. So in this course I'm inviting you to consider these building blocks. We'll be taking a very high level view of the nonlinear editing process, including organization of footage, editing and refining, as well as audio, effects, titles, color correction, and delivery.
