What is a custom GPT?

A Custom GPT is a tailored version of ChatGPT that you create for specific tasks or purposes by combining instructions, extra knowledge, and capabilities. Unlike standard ChatGPT, which handles general questions, Custom GPTs are specialists designed to excel at particular tasks. Think of it this way, regular ChatGPT is like a general practitioner doctor, knowledgeable about everything. A Custom GPT is like a specialist, an expert in one specific area. You create Custom GPTs without any coding just by explaining what you want in plain English and uploading relevant documents. For example, you could build a sales assistant that knows your product catalog, a writing helper that matches your brand voice, a technical support bot trained on your documentation. Custom GPTs start with ChatGPT's based knowledge, then add your specific instructions and documents to create a focused expert. They remember their specialized role across every conversation, so you don't need to re-explain what you need each time. The key difference, consistency and specialization. Your Custom GPT always knows its job and does it well. In this example here, I created a Custom GPT to welcome us to this course.
