- [Narrator] Let's look at some troubleshooting techniques for VPNs. The first one I'd like to talk about is the VPN server is not responding. You want to make sure that there are no other VPN software packages that are installed because they could conflict with each other. Check the anti-malware logs and see if it may be blocking access. If no one can access the VPN, then check your firewall and internet connections that the traffic is being properly passed. You can also have the client do a trace route from their computer to see where it stops responding. If the internet provider is blocking your VPN, then you should offer more than one VPN type. If using IPSec, then also offer an SSL VPN or L2TP, then the client can use what works best for them. I've also called the various different internet service providers and asked them to open up those ports, and sometimes they will accommodate.
