(gentle music) - [Instructor] Take a moment to understand something that happens every time your phone connects to the network but most people never even notice, and that is registration. Now, registration might sound simple but it is actually a critical process that enables your device to connect, communicate, and stay reachable on the network. So why does a user need to register? Well, there are several different scenarios that trigger this. Let's explore them one by one. The first scenario could be when the user switches on their device for the first time. Now at this moment, your device must register with the code network through the MME in case of 4G, or could be a EMF in case of 5G. Now, only after successful registration can your device reach the EMM registered or connected state in case of 4G, which allows it to access services like data, voice, or messaging.
