(gentle music) - [Instructor] In LTE, there are different duplex schemes, frequency division duplex and time division duplex. In FDD, think of it like a busy two-way highway. It is having separate lanes for traffic in each direction. It uses separate frequencies for uplink and separate frequencies for downlink, whereas the time division duplex is like a single lane with traffic lights controlling the flow, shares one frequency, but alternate uplink and downlink in the different time slots. Now which one is better? It depends on the road, or in this case, it depends upon the network's need. We have the different frame structures for both FDD and TDD. Let's start with the FDD. We have frame structure type 1, where we use the separate frequencies for uplink and downlink. Here it's like a divided highway where there is no collision happening in the radio frame in a time and frequency domain. There is one frame of 10 milliseconds.
