Exercise: Build a causal loop diagram with Insight Maker
- [Instructor] Causal loop diagrams are an essential tool in systems thinking because they help us visualize and understand the feedback loops within complex systems. By the end of this tutorial, you'll be able to map out the cause and effect relationships that drive any systems behavior. First, visit insightmaker.com and log in or create your free account. Once you're logged in, you'll be taken to the main dashboard. To start your project, click on create a new insight. This opens up a blank workspace where you'll build your causal loop diagram. In this causal loop diagram, or CLD, we'll model how supplier lead times, inventory levels, customer demand, and production rates interact. We'll include both a reinforcing loop that can exacerbate problems like stockouts, and a balancing loop that stabilizes inventory levels.
