Defining your objectives and goals
- [Narrator] Setting clear objectives for the SharePoint communication site is vital for ensuring that they serve their intended purpose. These objectives should be specific, measurable and aligned to our organizational strategies to maximize their effectiveness and impact. SMART objectives provide a clear roadmap for what the organization aims to achieve with its SharePoint communication site. Each objective should be specific, quantifiable, realistic, relevant to the organization and time-bound. For that, we use the acronym SMART. The 'S' in SMART stands for specific. Objectives should clearly define the intended outcome to avoid ambiguity and to ensure focus. The 'M' stands for measurable. Establish criteria to measure progress and success, ensuring that those objectives can be quantified. The 'A' is for achievable. Set objectives that are realistic and attainable, considering available resources and constraints. The 'R' is for relevant. Ensure that the objectives align with a broader organizational goal and are relevant to the team's work. And finally, the 'T.' These are time-bound. Define a clear timeline for achieving those objectives and create urgency and accountability. It is important to ensure that the defined objectives are consistent with the broader organizational strategies. This alignment reinforces the purposes of the communication site and enhances its impact. Aligning objectives with organizational strategies ensures that all efforts are directed toward common goals and enhances overall effectiveness. By reinforcing the purpose, you align objectives with strategies and the purpose of the communication site, ensuring they fulfill their intended function. And you can enhance your impact if those objectives align with the strategies. The potential impact of the SharePoint site is greatly enhanced, leading to better outcomes. As you're prioritizing your objectives, this will help you focus your efforts on the most critical areas that will yield the best benefits. This involves evaluating the potential impact and feasibility for each objective. Focus on the critical areas. By doing this, your teams can concentrate their efforts on the areas that matter the most, ensuring effective use of your resources. To evaluate the impact, assess the potential impact of each objective, and that's crucial for making informed decisions that drive success. And then finally, check for feasibility. The feasibility of your objectives helps in realistic planning and implementation, leading to better outcomes.
