- Now that you've identified your PMO's stakeholders, it's time to begin exploring the necessity of your PMO. And in figuring out your PMO's necessity, you need to ask stakeholders the right and relevant questions to unearth the real problems that exist. What's the best way to brainstorm all the important questions that will identify the PMO stakeholders' pain points? Here is the framework I suggest for this. Number one, get general background information on your stakeholders. Before you understand their challenges, you should learn a bit about them. Ask questions like, what are your key responsibilities? Or, who are the people you usually interact with on projects? Number two, identify the disciplines the PMO is expected to address. Schedule, resource, budget management, and more all come into the mix here. Learn more about the processes, tools and people associated with them.
