- [Instructor] Configuration and IT controls are a shared responsibility between AWS and the customer. The AWS Shared Responsibility Model is a framework that defines the division of security responsibilities between AWS, that is the cloud service provider, and the customers, that is users of AWS services. This differentiation of responsibility is commonly referred as security of the cloud versus security in the cloud. AWS responsibility, that is security of the cloud. AWS is responsible for protecting the infrastructure that runs all the services offered in AWS account. This infrastructure is composed of hardware, software, networking, and facilities that run AWS Cloud services. While customer responsibility, that is security in the cloud, customer responsibility will be determined by the AWS Cloud services that a customer selects.
