What are opportunities in Salesforce?
- [Trainer] The opportunity object is one of the most important features in Salesforce. Opportunity records are where we track all the details related to a potential sale. All the opportunity data rolls up into reports for your company, making it easier to build pipeline reports and to forecast revenue. In many ways, opportunities may be the core reason your company uses Salesforce, so let's start by taking a look at the type of data that's tracked on an opportunity. I'm showing an opportunity record for my customer, Kinetico. I can see some important information highlighted in this top area. I see the name that I gave this potential deal. The name of the customer account is listed here along with the close date, the amount of this potential deal, and the name of the rep working this deal is here in the owner field.
