- Raspberry PI 4, 5, 400 and 500 all include a boot loader that can install an operating system over the internet. You may find it useful to have another look at the "Flash Raspberry Pi OS to a microSD Card" video because the process is quite similar. To use the network installer, you'll need to connect your Raspberry Pi to ethernet first. With the Raspberry Pi powered off, insert the microSD card you want to use. Here's mine. And then insert power. Hold down the space key as it boots. When the boot screen appears, press N. The network bootloader will try to get an IP address from your network, and if successful, it will try to download the Raspberry Pi imager utility from the internet. The version of Raspberry Pi imager that the network bootloader installs is basically the same as the one that runs on your regular computer.
