- This solderless breadboard is a magnificent invention that makes electronic prototyping really quick and easy, especially if you're a complete klutz like I am. It comes with its board that has lots of little holes in it, some of which are connected to each other. If you hold the breadboard upright, you can see that there are two columns of holes on the left and on the right side of the board here, labeled + and -. The holes marked with a + are used to supply positive voltage to components, and the holes marked with a -, down here and down here, are generally used to ground connections, which allow all the components to agree on what ground or zero volts is. On any given side, all the holes in the + column are connected, as are all the holes in the - column. The rest of the holes are on a grid with numbered rows and lettered columns.
