- [Instructor] In the Arc GIS API the GIS class has a map widget for displaying an interactive map inside a notebook. The map allows panning, zooming, adding layers, and even converting from 2D to 3D all interactively in the notebook. This is one of the main reasons for using notebooks for writing Python that works with online GIS services. It's because of this interactive display of maps and analysis outputs. Let me show you how to create these map widgets. I've got another notebook open here. It's already logged into ARC GIS online and I have a GIS object that I've named G. I'll add another cell here and now I'll add the map widget. I can create a map widget by just saying G.map. .Map is a method of the GIS object. If I look back at the RTS API for Python help and look at the GIS module, I can find GIS .map in the help.
