- Let me tell you about a situation when inadequate requirements threatened to drop a major case of scope creep on my project. I worked for a wireless telecom company. One of our customers contracted with us to provide mobile devices for their salespeople in the field. After talking with them, it became clear that they also wanted mobile devices for some of their office staff. The problem was that at that time, most mobile phones didn't always get a strong signal inside of buildings. As a result, they would need us to install hardware to boost the signal, but that was not part of the original contract. It was a classic case of scope creep, because, of course, they didn't want to pay for the additional work and equipment. The question was, how do we handle this?
