Identifying program benefits

- Program benefits aren't realized without any effort, and require a clear approach to make sure that they are identified, managed, tracked, and realized throughout the program. To do this, we first need to understand who is accountable and responsible for benefits. Accountability for overall achievement of the program benefits lies with the sponsor or SRO, and they hold the business change managers, or BCMs, responsible for the achievement of the benefits in their business areas. BCMs are responsible for identifying and owning the benefits in their business area, and will provide input into planning when and how benefits will be realized. Then they monitor the outcomes in their business areas and measure the improvements, and report on achievement.
