Understanding effects that use masks
- Masks are creative tools allowing you to isolate, shape, and manage specific areas within your composition. Using mask-based effects helps in guiding the viewer's attention, highlighting essential elements and creating focal points. In Adobe Premier Pro, almost every effect relies on masks to limit the effect to a specific part of the clip. Let's try it out. Go ahead and open sequence 6.1, Understanding effects that use masks, and now apply the Gaussian blur effect to the clip. Go to the Effects panel and type the word "Gaussian." In fact, you don't even need to finish typing the word and there it is. Drag it to the clip, and in the Effect controls panel, adjust the blur until you can no longer see the logo or the letters. However, we want to blur only the logo and name and not the entire clip. To do this, we're going to add a mask. Go to the Effect controls panel and expand the effect. Just click on one of these…
