- This section, in a nutshell, is about deployment. All these years now since the CRoss Industry Standard Process for Data Mining was written, and we're still waiting for a good book on deployment. My friend and colleague wrote a book on predictive analytics a couple of years ago and include an excellent chapter on the subject. He actually starts the chapter trying to figure out why no one talks about it. Your project simply isn't complete unless you deploy the model. His explanation, and I agree, is that deployment gets bogged down in the technology, so we'll leave the software and hardware specifics for another day, but there are a couple of extremely important strategic issues to discuss around deployment, so let's get started.
