Create and save a PowerPoint template

- [Instructor] A complete PowerPoint template contains the following, the slide master, handout master, notes master, theme colors and theme fonts. We've covered how to customize all of these in previous videos. Now, it's time to save the template. Before you do so, determine whether you want your template to launch with slides already filled in like a slide library like I have here. Or if you'd rather have your template launch blank like I have here. If so, you'll need to make sure you delete all the slides here and insert a blank first slide. To save the template, hit F12 on your keyboard. This launches the save as dialogue box. Under save as type, let's go and find PowerPoint template. Make sure you select this one, .potx. Notice that PowerPoint opens up a new place on your computer. Make sure that you don't change this location. Otherwise, PowerPoint will not know where to retrieve your template. Give your template a name and hit save. Now when you create a new presentation, you can go to your custom folder, click on custom office templates and find your template here.
