Leveraging multicloud in a rapid migration
- [Instructor] Multiclouds can be defined as two or more major cloud brands, sometimes combined with private clouds, and also traditional systems such as on-premise systems. The core idea is to provide platform choices for those leveraging clouds, as well as migrating to clouds. For example, we have a choice of different development platforms, database systems, storage systems, compute platforms, from all major cloud brands that are combined to create a multicloud. So the core advantage is choice, however, it comes at a cost. All the clouds are more costly to set up because of the complexity they bring and different types of skills required to make them work. So the core question to ask is, is the use of multicloud justified for a rapid migration project, given the fact it does add complexity and cost and perhaps will slow things down?
