Using the Dissolve mode

- [Instructor] All right, now I'm going to show you a practical application of the dissolve mode. Which is to take these hand drawn letters and turn them into this carved effect here. All right, so I want to start things off by showing you how I created this layer. So, I'm going to go ahead and zoom in to 100%. And I want you to notice what we have here is a solid color layer. Which you create by going up to the layer menu, choosing new fill layer and then choosing solid color. And then I went ahead and added a layer mask, which we can see by alt or option clicking on that layer mask thumbnail. I filled it with black and then I drew these letters by hand using the brush tool. And what that allows me to do is apply a dynamic feather value from the properties panel. And so I'll go ahead and click on that white thumbnail to switch back to the full color version of the image. And then I'll double click on that layer mask…
