Challenge: RPM - Linux Tutorial
From the course: Package Management for Red Hat Linux
Challenge: RPM
(bright electronic music) - [Instructor] Although DNF has made manual RPM dependency management nearly a thing of the past, it's still important to know how to resolve dependency issues so you understand how package dependencies work. For this challenge, you're going to make sure that the Apache web server is not installed using DNF. To set this up, open a terminal and remove httpd. After Apache is uninstalled, use DNF to download the httpd package. I recommend you do this in the packages directory that we created. Next, install httpd manually using RPM, and resolve all dependencies as you come to them. Only use DNF to download packages to save time. The other option would be to browse the software repository with a web browser and manually download packages. Remember that RPM can tell you which dependency a package has before you install it. It can also install packages without concern for dependencies, but be careful.
