- [Instructor] I'm always surprised by how many Outlook users use the read or unread status of a message to mark whether they intend to do something more with it. For example, I know folks who would look at this particular message from Microsoft 365 Copilot and they would say, "Oh, I just read this "and I want to follow up on it." And so they would mark the message as unread to remember to look at it again later. Number of ways to do that. With this message selected, I can right click and I can mark it as unread, or I can click the Read/Unread button here, which is a toggle. Either way, I'm setting it so it looks as if I've never looked at it at all. If you're one of these people, please stop doing this because it's not true that this message is unread. I actually have read the message. So if you have read a message, do not mark it as unread to serve as a proxy for, "I want to do something more with this."
