Adding narrative text
- Narrative text is my description for a body text entry in a Word outline document. It may seem useless or confusing, but I think it's handy once you know how it works and how best to put it to use in your outline. Body text fits below a topic, like the first paragraph is to a heading, which is an accurate description. You create body text just as if you were making a new topic. Press Enter and choose Body Text from the outline-level menu. You can also click the Demote to Body Text button. Body text moves around when you select the topic, like any subtopic, but you can also move it independently. Unlike moving topics, rearranging body text entries doesn't promote them or demote them to another level. They stay body text no matter which topic they cling to. You can promote body text to a topic or demote it to a subtopic. But that's not the purpose of body text. The keyboard shortcut for body text is Shift + Control + N.
