Temporal frames are a way of thinking about time that can influence our cognitive processes, including creativity. Adjusting these frames can facilitate creative thinking by altering how individuals perceive and then interact with time. We are going to look at three temporal frames that can improve the diversity of your colleagues' ideas. The first frame to experiment with is the extended timeframe. This is where you encourage your colleagues to imagine something far off into the future. There are several ways that you can use this frame. One way is to step out 100 years into the future and look back at the problem you have now. What ideas come to you? Another is to look out 50 years into the future.
